APRIL'S THEME DAY - A PUBLIC MAIL BOX -A typical, urban red mail box (I heat them, their are ugly, and are copy from other countries). You will find these every few streets around, in all city, and the rest of country. Mail is collected every day. The regular mail in Mexico is veryyyyyyy slowly.

The Metropolitan Cathedral (IV)

Chur·ri·gue·resque (choore-ge-raesk) adj.
Of or relating to a style of baroque architecture of Spain and its Latin-American colonies, characterized by elaborate and extravagant decoration.
[Spanish churrigueresco, after José Benito Churriguera (1665-1725), Spanish architect.]

Churrigueresco is a term that describes the last phase of the Spanish renaissance. It occurred between the years 1650 and 1780 and was named after Jose Churriguera because he, along with other members of his family, were key players in the style.

Churrigueresco was a reaction against the severity of Philip II's Desornamentado style through the use of extreme ornamentation.

Churrigueresco was the most dramatic and colossal in terms of surface ornamentation.

Churrigueresco opposed that of the Desornamentado style by displaying many intricate details.

Even though this style focused mainly on exteriors, it still showed richness and extravagance. The embellished details of this period were completed by the use of stucco, which was the primary material that architects used.

Currigueresco:
adj. Relativo a un estilo arquitectónico barroco de España y de la América Colonial (meso América - Sur de los EUA hasta el Perú -), caracterizado por una decoración muy elaborada y extravagante. Creada por el arquitecto español Benito Churriguera (1665-1725).Churrigueresco es un termino que describe la última fase de renacimiento español. Que apareció entre los años de 1650 a 1780 y se le llamó así en honor a José Churriguera debido a que él y varios miembros de su familia lo impulsaron.

El estilo churrigueresco es una reacción contra la severidad de la poca ornamentación del estilo Felipe II.
El estilo churrigueresco es mas dramático y colosal en términos de ornamentación, principalmente en los retablos y las fachadas de los templos de la época.

Los materiales usados principalmente fueron el estuco, y la cantera.

Almost temples have a great window in their pricipal facade, that it illuminates where they sing the coristas. In mexico they abound this type of temples.

Air and life

Metal sculpture (steel and aluminum) that represents the air like life source and the health and disease of the lungs. Originally it was in the interior of the Neumology Hospital that precipice in the 1985 earthquake. Today is placed in the outside of the Cardiology Hospital at Medical National Center "Siglo XXI" of IMSS.

Escultura en metal (acero y aluminio) que representa al aire como fuente de vida y la salud y enfermedad de los pulmones. Originalmente estaba en el interior del hospital de neumología que se derrumbo en el terremoto de 1985. Hoy esta colocada en el exterior del hospital de cardiologia del Centro Médico Nacional "Siglo XXI"del IMSS.

Penetrating its imposing sun-bathed baroque and neoclassical facade, the visitor enters the ethereal half-light of this hallowed shrine, with its five separate naves, its side chapels, and its sacred religious icons. The religious ceremonies are performed with the full dignity of the Catholic faith and, with a little luck, it may be possible to hear the strains of one of the cathedral's monumental organs.
